The Surface Warfare Domain focuses
on that insight that will allow the SA Navy to fully exploit
the systematic potential of its surface warfare systems.

Due recognition is given to the multi-dimensional
complexity of Maritime Warfare where surface assets may
face threats from below water, from the surface and from
the air.

The unique nature of modern surface
warfare, the assosiated platforms and the wide range of
component technologies that need to be integrated also constitute
important aspects of the relevant set of expertise.

Current activity is primarily aimed
at assisting the SA Navy in the development of counter-measures
and tactics against air and underwater threats for the MEKO
Class of corvettes.

Some work is also being done on establishing
the SA Navy requirement for strategic and tactical Electronic
Warfare expertise and defining the support that IMT should
render in this regard.
