The Antennae Test Range at Paardefontein, near Pretoria, has various ranges and facilities available for antenna testing:

The VHF/UHF Range:
The VHF/UHF Range has the capability to do all antenna verification tests over the frequency range of 3Khz to 3Ghz. This is done by the utilization of a HP 8753C type network analyser which is interfaced to a PC. The collected data can be supplied to the customer in hard as well as magnetic format. All the relevant reference antennae for this frequency range are available either in di-pole or log-periodic format. For the frequency range above 750MHz, standard gain horns are available.

Turntables:
The Range has facilities available for the customer who needs vehicle mounted antennae tested. There are two turntables for this purpose, of which the first can handle loads of up to 3 000 kg, and is fully automated. The second turntable is larger and can carry loads of up to 26 000 kg.

uWave Range:
The uWave range has the capability to test all antenna functions in the frequency range of 10 Mhz to 26.5 Ghz. By moving the source tower closer to the test tower, it is possible to test at frequencies up to 40 Ghz. This range also has the capability of doing radar cross-sectional measurements.
