| Gerotek
Vehicle Testing has, for many years, been heavily involved
in vehicle structural and component evaluation. The experience
gained in this field enables Gerotek to offer extensive testing
and provides clients with a range of services to optimise
vehicle design for specific applications.
Gerotek structural testing includes:
A wide range of instrumentation, combined with
a team of highly trained and experienced engineers, enables
Gerotek to evaluate vehicle structures and components with
a high degree of accuracy and repeatability.
Component testing:
The forces which act on vehicle components and the resultant
stresses are often difficult to calculate. Factors affecting
these parameters are dependant on criteria such as road type,
speed and load conditions.
This often results in the need to conduct tests to measure
the actual forces and resulting strains, displacements and
accelerations. Gerotek can determine the suitable end-user
conditions, apply the instrumentation needed to conduct the
recording, and process the data to provide our clients with
the required information.
Up to sixty channels can be recorded and processed simultaniously.
The data can then be supplied in various formats for further
processing.
Gerotek has the facilities to handle the tests in a repeatable
manner so as to facilitate the accurate retesting of redesigned
components.
Quality control is in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements to guarantee high quality results.
Fatigue Analysis:
Vehicle structural failure can often be attributed to fatigue.
For this reason, fatigue analysis of vehicle structures is
an important tool for the designer. Gerotek has the facilities
to measure strain on vehicle structures and to do fatigue
analysis, identifying possible problem areas. Gerotek will
also give the designer accurate data for use in Finite Element
Analysis and dynamic modelling packages.
In order to be able to design an optimised component, it is
crucial for the designer to know which forces will affect
the component. Gerotek will measure all the necessary parameters
to help identify failures.
Vibration Analysis:
Vibration analysis is an important part of vehicle structural
analysis. The structure's response to certain inputs is crucial
to endurance, ride comfort levels, ergonomics and transportation
of specialised equipment.
Frequency analysis can be performed on data to calculate,
among others, PSD, Transfer and Coherence functions.
Gerotek will supply the instruments and technical knowledge
to measure vibrations and to analyse the data to determine
the effectiveness of suspension design.
