Roller Dynamometer assists with the evaluation of heavy vehicle
drive-train components. Offering a maximum power capability
of 600kW and a maximum axle load of 20 000 kg, it is ideally
suited for heavy vehicle testing. Two 500 mm diameter rollers
coupled to a hydraulic dynamometer provide the braking force.
Electronically controlled systems offer a working range of
40 km/h to 120 km/h. Maximum tractive effort is 26 kN and
the inertia effect of the rollers corresponds to a moving
vehicle weight of 2 750 kg.
The dynamometer offers:
- The tracing of problems with drive-train
components during maximum power or torque condition.
- Thermodynamic testing to determine
the efficiency of cooling systems, and to determine the
effect of different cooling system components within short
spells under repeatable conditions.
- Read-outs for power, torque tractive
effort, roller and road speeds. Pneumatical hoists facilitate
driving onto and off the rollers. Ram air, when needed,
is provided by cooling fans.
- A wide range of tests, from measuring
of power and torque at the wheels to thermodynamic testing
and fuel consumption.
