VACANCY FOR ERGONOMICS CONSULTANT

TITLE : ERGONOMICS CONSULTANT

Job objective:

The purpose of the job is to apply ergonomics knowledge and skills for the execution of an ergonomics consultation service according to the requirements of the clients and stakeholders within available resources. The services primarily include: evaluations, specifications, execution of research projects to completion and the development of ergonomics design concepts. Furthermore, the role assists with the promoting of acceptable quality standards and a positive market profile with clients. Local travel is required intermittently throughout the year in accordance with the project requirements which at times includes going to remote and challenging regions and international travel may be sporadically required.

Operational environment:

ERGOnomics TECHnologies (ERGOTECH) works in a consulting/research environment with the military as a major client. Secondary clients include SMME to corporate entities over the spectrum of commercial enterprises. ERGOTECH is expected to operate on strict business principles within a parastatal organisation. A complement of graduate and postgraduate personnel forms a multi-disciplinary team, a factor which contributes to the success of the consultancy.

Qualification and experience

  • Post graduate degree (NQF level 7) in Ergonomics with undergraduate degree in psychology, physiology, biokinetics or engineering.
  • A minimum of three years experience in applied ergonomics.
  • Proven knowledge on two or more of the following areas: anthropometry, biomechanics, task analysis, human physiological capabilities, musculoskeletal disorders, interface and workstation design, occupation health and safety and human functional performance.
  • Proven knowledge of research methodology and accompanying report writing skills.
