| The efficient
and effective clothing of a large quantity of people in a short
period of time in a retail, industrial and military environment
has always been a problem for both the shopkeeper (issuing clerk)
and the shop buyer (logistical clerk). The lack of readily available
data on sizes that have been sold or allocated and the infrequent
updating of anthropometric data of populations are further problems
encountered.
The Anthropometric Measuring System (AMS), an electro-mechanical
body dimension-measuring instrument, has been developed by ERGOTECH. The measured critical body dimensions
are electronically transferred to a personal computer-based
software system where clothing item sizes are allocated according
to the body dimensions of the individual.
The body measurement data is stored in a database file and used
to update the anthropometric and clothing size databases. The
clothing item size data can be used for various logistics auditing
and planning functions.
