| Protechnik conducts R&D
work and provides technical support to the SANDF to ensure
maintenance and further development of a defensive capability
against chemical and biological weapons according to the national
Chemical and Biological Defence policy of the SANDF. Technical
support is provided to the National Authority responsible
for the implementation of the Non proliferation Conventions.
Skills and capabilities are developed and maintained in the
following areas:
to ensure South Africa's readiness and ability to respond
to a conventional or non-conventional chemical or biological
threat.
The above skills and capabilities are also utilised for:
- the laboratory scale and pilot plant production of commercial
fine chemicals
- industrial chemical and environmental sample analysis
- quality assurance of industrial respiratory filters
- provision of crime investigation devices and equipment
to improve the commercial viability of the Organisation
